Like many people, I participated in the Google Android contest this spring, and like most of them, I didn't win, but I did enjoy working with the platform, and am very excited about the idea of an open source mobile platform that's relatively powerful. From the outset, due to the lack of actual source code for a lot of the system, there have been "doubters" about what Google is really up to. Hackers have posted an installer that streamlines the porting of Google's Android software onto Nokia's Linux-based N810 and N800 Internet Tablets. Android has yet to appear on a cell-phone development platform, so the installer could play a key role in expanding Android development.
